Description
This Atlas 20005850 HO Scale 50' Postwar Boxcar represents the Northern Pacific #31309, featuring red, white, and blue Savings Bonds graphics. Note that the picture might show a different road number. After World War II, railroads ordered many 50' AAR boxcars with a standard design from the late 1940s. Based on the 1937 AAR design, it was updated post - war with an improved dreadnaught end and diagonal panel roofs. These boxcars were common on American railroads until the 1970s and 1980s. Key features include separately applied ladders and grab irons, three side sill styles (straight, tabbed, and fishbelly), 8' & 9' Superior or Youngstown doors, a fully detailed underframe, free - rolling trucks with metal wheelsets, and accurate printing with prototypical paint schemes.

Using this HO scale boxcar is easy. Just place it on your model railroad track and let it roll along. It'll fit right in with your other trains and scenery. When handling, be gentle to avoid knocking off the separately applied details like ladders and grab irons. Keep it away from sharp objects and rough surfaces. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off any dust. If it gets a bit dirty, a mild soap and water solution can be used, but make sure to dry it thoroughly. Store it in a cool, dry place when not in use to prevent any damage to the paint or the parts.
