Description
This is an HO scale Atlas 20005793 GARX insulated 50-foot boxcar (reefer) of TP&W Toledo Peoria & Western #50303. Note that the picture might show a different road number. These AAR class bunkerless refrigerator cars, a joint creation of General American and Evans Products, started production in the early 1950s. They have a very unique look with two large horizontal panels on either side of a 7’7” door, connected by a horizontal rivet strip. With fewer seams than regular box cars, they're less likely to rust and leak. By 1959, over 1,000 of these boxcars were made. Key features include an 8’ plug with separate latch bars, overhanging diagonal panel roofs, accurate postwar ends, and precise painting and printing.
Using this HO scale boxcar model is easy. Just place it on your model train track gently and let it roll with your other train cars. When handling it, be careful not to apply too much pressure on the delicate parts like the 8’ plug and the latch bars. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off any dust regularly. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they might damage the accurate painting and printing. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent any color fading. Also, make sure to keep it out of reach of small children to avoid any accidental breakage.
