Description
The Atlas 20004670 HO scale model represents a 11,000-gallon tank car with a platform, featuring the Columbia Southern SACX #999 in gray, black, and red. Note that the picture might show a different road number. Propane or LPG is a natural and refined by - product. In the 1940s, the petroleum industry promoted LPG as a cleaner and more efficient fuel than coal and oil. Transporting LPG needs specially - designed high - pressure tank cars. The 11,000 - gallon tank car was introduced by ACF in 1947. Atlas recreates this late steam/early diesel era tank car in two versions: with and without platform rails. Cars with top platform rails were for areas without elevated loading/unloading facilities, while those without were for customers with such facilities. Key features include finely molded handrails, tank fittings and safety placards, 50 - ton friction - bearing trucks with AccuMate® couplers, accurate painting and lettering, and a platform where appropriate.

Using this Atlas HO scale tank car is simple. Just place it on your model train track and couple it with other cars using the AccuMate® couplers. It will fit well in your late steam or early diesel era model railroad layout. When handling, be gentle with the finely molded handrails and tank fittings as they can be delicate. Keep it away from sharp objects to avoid scratches on the accurate painting and lettering. To maintain it, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off dust regularly. If there are stubborn stains, you can use a mild soap solution and a soft brush, but make sure to dry it thoroughly afterward. Store it in a cool, dry place to prevent any damage.
