Description
The Atlas 150-10004031 GP-40 is a detailed HO scale model train in the colors of Maine Central #303, blue and white. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In 1966, EMD launched a new line of locomotives using the 16-cylinder 645-series prime mover. The GP40, with 3,000hp and turbocharged, was part of the '40-series'. Produced from 1966 to 1972, it was mainly used for road freight. You can spot a GP40 by its three rooftop radiator fans at the rear of the long hood, unlike the GP38 which has two. The GP38, with 2,000hp and non-turbocharged, was also based on the 645-series. It cost less and was produced from 1966 to 1971. Both models share the same wheelbase and body style. The Atlas GP38 and GP40 models come with options like long hoods with or without dynamic brakes and underframes with different fuel tank sizes. This model features golden-white LEDs, a realistic die-cast underframe, a high - performance motor, directional lighting, and much more. It also has additional feature parts for the GP-40. The DCC operation supports all programming modes and flexible function key mapping. The sound functionality offers over 20 sound effects, multiple horn and bell options, and manual and automatic notching modes.

Using your Atlas GP - 40 model train is easy. First, make sure your DCC system is set up and powered on. Connect the train to the tracks and use your DCC controller to start it moving. You can adjust the speed and direction with the controller's functions. For sound, select the appropriate sound effects from the options available on your DCC system. When it comes to maintenance, keep the train clean. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the body and remove any dust. Periodically check the wheels for dirt or debris and clean them gently. If you notice any loose parts, like the separately - installed windshield wipers or grab irons, carefully re - attach them. Store the train in a cool, dry place when not in use to prevent damage. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity, as this can affect the electrical components and the paint finish.
