Atlas 10004253 EMD GP40-2 Southern Pacific #7661 (red, gray) DCC & Sound HO Scale

This is an HO scale Atlas 10004253 EMD GP40 - 2 model train locomotive representing Southern Pacific #7661 in red and gray. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The GP40 - 2 is EMD's successor to the highly successful GP40. It has internal upgrades like improved Dash 2 electrical components and some external differences from the late - production GP40, such as an engine water - level sight glass on the right, a larger electrical cabinet air filter box, a lengthened left - side battery compartment, and a slightly modified cab. All GP40 - 2s are powered by a 16 - cylinder EMD 645 - series diesel engine with 3,000 horsepower. Phase 2 GP40 - 2s from mid - 1976 to late - 1979 have features like an 88” low nose, corrugated radiator grilles, and notched step wells. For DC operation, the LokSound Select Dual - Mode decoder enables the locomotive to work on DC layouts, but remember that the Atlas Quantum Engineer won't operate it on an analog (DC) layout. When using sound features, enjoy over 20 different sound effects. You can select different horns, bells, and brake squeals. In terms of notching modes, you can switch between manual and automatic 'on the fly' for a more realistic experience. As for maintenance, keep the locomotive clean.
