Description
The Athearn ATH18436 HO Scale NACC 50-foot box car is a great addition to your model railroad. It comes with several excellent features. There are three road numbers available. It has applied metal grab irons and etched end platforms. You can choose between Pullman Standard or Superior plug doors, and a Pullman Standard or Stanray (Superior) roof to match the prototype. The 70-ton trucks are ready to roll, and it has machined 33” metal wheels with RP25 contours. The body-mounted McHenry® operating scale knuckle couplers ensure smooth operation. It's weighted for the best performance and has a minimum radius of 18”. In the 1960s, the North American Car Corporation designed and built this 50’ outside post, insulated, plug door box car, which was a sign of future developments. Many railroads used this car, often leased to private shippers. The NACC cars had complex and colorful paint schemes, and at that time, general leasing, billboard paint schemes, and modern freight handling techniques were still about a decade away.

Using this Athearn HO scale box car is easy. Just place it on your model railroad tracks, and it's ready to roll thanks to the pre - assembled 70 - ton trucks. When coupling it with other cars, use the body - mounted McHenry® operating scale knuckle couplers. Be gentle when handling the car to avoid damaging the metal grab irons and etched end platforms. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the car's body and wheels regularly. Keep it in a dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the paint from fading. If you need to store it for a long time, make sure to place it in a protective case to avoid scratches and dents.
