PROTOTYPE AND BACKGROUND INFO:
In the 1960s, the railroading industry was on the verge of major changes. The North American Car Corporation designed and built a 50’ outside post, insulated, plug - door box car, which was a glimpse into the future. Many railroads added this car to their roster, often purchased or leased by private shippers. The NACC cars were known for their complex and colorful paint schemes. At the time of their construction, general leasing, billboard paint schemes, and modern freight handling techniques were still about a decade away.

Using this Athearn ATH18431 HO Scale NACC 50' Box Car is easy. Just place it on your HO - scale track and couple it with other cars using the body - mounted McHenry® operating scale knuckle couplers. It's ready - to - roll, so you can start your train operation right away. When handling the car, be gentle with the applied metal grab irons and etched end platforms to avoid damage. For maintenance, keep it clean from dust and debris. You can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the body. Store it in a cool, dry place when not in use to prevent any warping or damage to the wheels and body. And remember, the minimum radius for this car is 18”, so make sure your track layout meets this requirement for smooth operation.
