Description
The Athearn ATH15892 HO Scale Single Door Rail Boxcar is a high - quality model train accessory. This rail boxcar, numbered #35457 and of PS 5277 type, offers a great deal of authenticity. It features a single 10’ Pullman Standard door. The grab irons, end ladders, and brake wheel are separately applied for added realism. With a photo - etch coupler cross - over platform, it looks and functions like the real thing. It comes fully assembled, so you can start running it right out of the box. The car is painted and printed realistically, and weighted for smooth operation. The machined metal wheels with RP25 contours work on all popular track brands. It has body - mounted McHenry operating scale knuckle couplers. The window packaging lets you easily view the model, and the interior plastic blister keeps it safe for storage. Replacement parts are available. It requires a minimum radius of 18”. In the mid - 1970s, Pullman Standard built many such cars during the per diem box car boom. These 50’ outside post box cars with various door configurations are still seen in modern railroading. The prototype manufacturer is Pullman Standard, with McHenry Scale Knuckle couplers, suitable for the 1970s and later eras. It's recommended for ages 14 and up, and no assembly is required.

Using this Athearn HO scale single door rail boxcar is easy. Since it's fully assembled, you can just take it out of the box and place it on your track. Make sure the track has a minimum radius of 18” to ensure smooth operation. When handling the boxcar, be gentle with the separately applied grab irons, end ladders, and brake wheel as they can be fragile. As for maintenance, keep the boxcar clean by using a soft, dry cloth to wipe off any dust. Check the machined metal wheels regularly to make sure they're rolling freely. If you need to replace any parts, you can easily find replacement parts. Store the boxcar in its window packaging with the interior plastic blister to keep it safe. This boxcar is recommended for users aged 14 and above, so make sure younger users are supervised if they're going to play with it.
