Description
This is a limited - edition HO scale Atlas USRA rebuilt 40' steel box car painted for the freelance model railroad Cat Mountain Santa Fe. The road number is CMSF 72617, though the picture might show a different one. David Barrow's Cat Mountain Santa Fe, a well - known freelance model railroad inspired by the Santa Fe in west Texas, allows for some creative interpretation. Mr. Barrow is also famous for his unique 'Domino' layout design. This car, available in four HO scale road numbers, is a great addition to your collection. By WWII, most classic USRA double - sheathed box cars were rebuilt with steel sides, with more rebuilds in the late 1940s and early 1950s. These steel - side rebuilds were very popular. The Atlas USRA HO rebuilt steel 40' box car features a ready - to - run design, a highly detailed 10 - panel body, accurate painting and printing, brake detail, AccuMate® couplers, an opening door, and separately applied wire grabs and side ladders.

Using this HO scale box car is easy. It's ready - to - run right out of the box, so you can place it on your model railroad track immediately. When handling the car, be gentle as the separately applied wire grabs and side ladders are delicate. Avoid dropping or rough handling to prevent damage. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body and remove any dust. If there are stubborn stains, a mild soap solution can be used, but make sure to dry it thoroughly afterward. Check the AccuMate® couplers regularly to ensure they are in good working condition. If you notice any loose parts, you can use a small amount of glue suitable for model trains to reattach them. Also, keep in mind that the inside height of the model may vary from the prototype, but this doesn't affect its performance on your model railroad.
