Note that the picture might show a different road number. The Trinity RD - 4 is a modern 4200 - cubic - foot aluminum coal hopper built since the mid - 1990s and still in service today. Railroads and public utilities use these cars in unit trains to transport coal from fields to power plants or ports for export. This FVM RD - 4 Hopper for C&NW features new road numbers, spanning from 1994 to the present. It belongs to the 880000 - 880249 series, built in Apr - May 1994. It comes fully assembled with a detailed plastic body. A die - cast weight with interior detail gives it a realistic feel. Modeler - applied interior braces add to its authenticity. The removable coal load offers playability. It has detailed free - rolling trucks and 36” machined metal wheels. The body - mounted operating knuckle couplers are Micro - Trains® compatible. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification. Weighted to industry standards, it operates smoothly on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail. It comes in a clear jewel box for safe storage. With a minimum radius of 9 ¾” and a recommended radius of 11”, it fits well in various model setups. Coal transportation by train has evolved over time, and this hopper represents a modern solution in the world of model trains.

Using your Fox Valley Models N Scale FVM 10075 C&NW #880040 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper is easy. First, place it on your Code 55, 70, or 80 rail track. Make sure the track has a radius of at least 9 ¾”, but 11” is recommended for better operation. You can connect it to other cars using the body - mounted operating knuckle couplers, which are compatible with Micro - Trains®. You can add or remove the coal load as you like to create different scenarios. When it comes to maintenance, keep the 36” machined metal wheels clean to ensure smooth rolling. Check the couplers regularly to make sure they are working properly. If the printing and lettering start to fade, handle the model with care as it's hard to replace. Store the model in its clear jewel box when not in use to protect it from dust and damage. This will keep your model in great shape for a long time.
