Description
The Fox Valley Models N Scale FVM 10042 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper, featuring BNSF/Heritage III #651401 design, is a must - have for model train enthusiasts. The picture might show a different road number. The Trinity RD - 4 Coal hopper is a modern 4200 - cubic - foot car built since the mid - 1990s and still in use today. Railroads and public utilities use these aluminum hopper cars in unit trains to transport coal from coal fields to power plants or export ports. This FVM RD - 4 Hopper for BNSF comes with new road numbers and is from the 2005 - present era. It belongs to the Series 651400 - 652574, built from June to December 2005. It's fully assembled, with a detailed plastic body and a die - cast weight showing interior details. You can apply interior braces as a modeler. The removable coal load adds fun. The detailed free - rolling trucks have 36” machined metal wheels. The body - mounted operating knuckle couplers are Micro - Trains® compatible. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification. It's weighted to industry standards for reliable operation and can run on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail. It comes in a clear jewel box packaging for safe storage. The minimum radius for operation is 9 ¾”, and the recommended radius is 11”. Coal transportation by train has evolved over time, and the modern aluminum Trinity RD - 4 Coal hopper is a great representation of that progress. With various paint schemes due to multiple owners, it has a 4200 - cubic - foot capacity and is a Plate F car. The RD means Rapid Discharge, and it can be emptied quickly either as a conventional bottom - dump car or with a rotary dumper thanks to its rotary couplers.

Using your Fox Valley Models N Scale FVM 10042 Trinity RD - 4 Coal Hopper is easy. First, place it on your model train track. Make sure the track meets the minimum radius of 9 ¾” or better yet, the recommended 11” radius. The hopper is fully assembled, so you can start running it right away. The removable coal load gives you the option to show it loaded or empty. If you want to add more detail, you can apply the interior braces as a modeler. When it comes to couplers, the body - mounted operating knuckle couplers are Micro - Trains® compatible, allowing for easy connection to other cars in your unit train. As for maintenance, keep it clean. You can gently wipe the plastic body and the metal wheels with a soft cloth. Check the couplers regularly to ensure they're working properly. Store it in the clear jewel box packaging when not in use to protect it from dust and damage. Also, be careful when handling the model to avoid any accidental breakage of the detailed parts.
