Description
The DDC Specialties PSXX-AR is a remarkable DCC solid-state power shield that combines an auto reverser, circuit breaker, and more. It can automatically control reverse loop turnouts and serves as an accessory decoder for turnout stall motors like the Circuitron Tortoise. With block detection and network status feedback, it offers great monitoring capabilities. The board features 4 indicator LEDs for booster power, block power, short circuits, and block occupancy. You can select trip current values from 1 - 10 using CV 49 and choose current limits of 1, 2, 3, or 4 amperes via jumpers. It supports power on/off by DCC and has both manual and automatic reset options. The all-solid-state operation ensures fast and reliable performance. It also has adaptive load reset, auto stop with DCC reset, and photocell-controlled block power off features. With very low voltage drop, programmable power-up status, and network feedback compatible with various interfaces, it's a versatile choice. It has an output for audio alert, no need for a separate power supply, and is easy to install. The firmware is flash programmable, and it has a discrete input for track voltage control and +5V and ground outputs for powering LEDs.

Using the DDC Specialties PSXX-AR is straightforward. First, install it easily with the 4 mounting holes for #6 screws. Connect it to your DCC system to start using its features. To set the trip current values, use CV 49 to select from 1 - 10. You can choose the current limits via the jumpers. You can turn on/off the output track power with your DCC throttle. When it comes to resetting, you have the option of automatic or manual reset. In automatic mode, the breaker tries to reset every 2 seconds. For manual reset, you can use a switch or a DCC command. Keep in mind that the PSXX uses the track DCC power for its operation, so no separate power supply is needed. If there's a short, you can add an audible sounder for an alert. To keep it in good condition, make sure to follow the system reset instruction (CV63=42) if needed to set all CVs and addresses to factory values. Also, as new features become available, you can have the firmware updated by Tony’s Train Exchange.
