The Trinity 3230 Pressure Differential (PD) covered hopper is a smaller version of TrinityRail’s 5660 PD, developed from the base design by Thrall Car in the late 1990s. Its smaller size allows it to be loaded with heavier materials like cement and different grades of fly ash. Most of these cars are operated by Railcar (Leasing) companies or Shippers.
