The ATLAS 50005724 48-inch cushion coil car in N scale is a great addition to your railroad collection. In the early 1960s, Evans Products identified the need for specialized cars to transport coiled steel. Back then, existing cars were often 70-ton specially equipped mill gondolas. The new coil-steel cars had a 100-ton capacity, built with a trough frame and body. The designs were refined in the 1960s, and a 48-foot length became standard. Production lasted well into the 1970s.
