Description
The ATLAS 50005724 48-inch cushion coil car in N scale is a great addition to your railroad collection. It represents the IHB Indiana Harbor Belt #1238, though the picture might show a different road number. In the early 1960s, Evans Products identified the need for specialized cars to transport coiled steel. Back then, existing cars were often 70-ton specially equipped mill gondolas. The new coil-steel cars had a 100-ton capacity, built with a trough frame and body. The designs were refined in the 1960s, and a 48-foot length became standard. Production lasted well into the 1970s. This Atlas 48-foot coil steel car is based on the 1967 Evans design and is a great stand-in for 1970s cars. It features a die-cast body, crisp painting and lettering, two removable rounded hoods with stacking frames, and a detailed wood-lined trough floor.

Using this ATLAS coil car is easy. Just place it on your N scale railroad track as part of your train setup. When you want to show off the details inside the car, you can remove the two rounded hoods. As for maintenance, keep it in a dry place to prevent the die-cast body from rusting. If the paint or lettering gets dirty, you can gently clean it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using any harsh chemicals as they might damage the crisp painting and lettering. When handling the car, be careful with the removable hoods and stacking frames to prevent them from breaking. Enjoy adding this great model to your railroad collection!
