Description
The ATLAS 50005723 is a remarkable N scale 48-foot cushion coil car representing IHB Indiana Harbor Belt #1216. Please note the picture might show a different road number. In the early 1960s, Evans Products identified the need for specialized cars to transport coiled steel. Back then, existing cars were often 70-ton specially equipped mill gondolas. The new coil-steel cars, built for this specific commodity, had a 100-ton capacity with a trough frame and body. These early designs were refined in the 1960s, and Evans eventually adopted a 48-foot length as standard, with production lasting well into the 1970s. The Atlas 48-foot coil steel car is based on the 1967 Evans design and is a great stand-in for 1970s cars. Features include a die-cast body for durability, crisp painting and lettering for an authentic look, two removable rounded hoods with stacking frames for added functionality, and a detailed wood-lined trough floor for realism.

Using your ATLAS N scale 48-foot cushion coil car is easy. Just place it on your model train track and let it be part of your train setup. When handling it, be gentle to avoid any damage to the delicate parts like the removable rounded hoods. To keep it looking great, you can use a soft, dry cloth to dust it regularly. Avoid using harsh chemicals or cleaners as they might damage the paint and lettering. If you need to store it, find a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This will help preserve the car's appearance and functionality for a long time.
