This N scale Atlas 50005244 Western Pacific #4058 50-foot boxcar in brown and yellow is a great addition to your model train collection. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In 1972, Penn Central and Western Pacific ordered smooth-sided box cars from US Railroad Manufacturing in Illinois. The PC's 574 - car order became the 'X72' design with smooth, welded sides and a large 6 - panel Superior door for forklift access. The next year, 500 slightly larger X72A box cars were ordered. These cars were used for general purposes and were common across North American railroads. After PC's end in the late 70s, Conrail took them over and they ran until the 90s. Later, most were sold to Canadian National, short lines, or scrapped. By the 2000s, most X72s were out of service, but some still run in Mexico and South America.
