Description
This HO scale Atlas 20006306 FMC 5503 52' double-door boxcar, numbered #52027 of the St. Maries River Railroad in orange, is a great addition to your collection. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In the past 50 years, box cars usually come in five frame lengths: 40-, 50-, 52-, 60-, and 86-foot. The 52-foot ones are the least common but played an important role in the lumber industry. This car is like a 'stretched' 5277 with an extra foot outside the bolsters, creating a distinctive overhang. It has double sliding doors and a cushioned underframe. Southern Pacific was the only original operator, ordering 700 of these uniquely designed boxcars. Features include double sliding doors, wire grabs, etched parts, a Plate C box car, and an X-Panel roof.

Using this HO scale boxcar is easy. Just place it on your model train track and it's ready to be part of your train setup. When handling, be gentle to avoid damaging the wire grabs and etched parts. For maintenance, use a soft brush to clean the car regularly. Keep it in a dry place to prevent rusting. Also, make sure the double sliding doors can move smoothly. If they get stuck, you can use a little bit of lubricant, but be careful not to use too much.
