Description
The Atlas 20005786 GARX Insulated 50' Boxcar (Reefer) in HO Scale represents Denver & Rio Grande Western #50921. Note that the picture might show a different road number. These AAR class bunkerless refrigerator cars, a joint creation of General American and Evans Products, started production in the early 1950s. With two large horizontal panels beside a 7’7” door and a unique look thanks to the horizontal rivet strip joining the panels, they have fewer seams than standard boxcars. This means they're less likely to rust and leak. By 1959, over 1,000 of these boxcars were made. Key features include an 8’ plug with separate latch bars, overhanging diagonal panel roofs, accurate postwar ends, and precise painting and printing.
Using this HO scale boxcar is easy. You can simply place it on your model train track and add it to your train set. When handling the boxcar, be gentle to avoid any damage to the delicate parts like the latch bars and the painted details. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to dust it regularly. If there are any stubborn stains, you can use a mild soap solution on a damp cloth, but make sure to dry it thoroughly afterward. Keep it stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent the paint from fading. Also, avoid placing heavy objects on top of it to prevent deformation.
