Description
This HO scale model is the ATLAS 20004792 ACF 4650 Centerflow Covered Hopper of Burlington Northern Santa Fe, numbered #403374. It comes in a beautiful cascade green color with a large circle - cross logo. Note that the picture might show a different road number. The Atlas ACF 4650 3 - Bay Centerflow Covered Hopper is inspired by cars built by American Car & Foundry in the 1960s and had another production in the 1970s. These large - capacity hoppers are still used today to transport grain, salt, dried kaolin clay, sugar, and other bulk materials that need weather protection. The HO models are amazing! They have etched - metal, see - through roofwalks, detailed brake gear, authentic 100 - ton roller bearing trucks with blackened metal wheels, and body - mounted Accumate couplers with screw - attached coupler pockets. Undecorated models come with optional parts for three types of loading hatches and two styles of discharge outlets. Decorated models are pre - painted and lettered in various railroad - owned schemes, with details suitable for either early (pre - 1971) or late (post - 1971) production.
Using this HO scale ATLAS covered hopper model is easy. First, you can place it on your model train track just like you would with other train cars. When it comes to loading, if you have the undecorated model with optional parts, you can choose the type of loading hatch and discharge outlet that suits your needs. For maintenance, keep it in a dry place to prevent rusting of the metal parts, especially the blackened metal wheels and the brake gear. Avoid touching the etched - metal roofwalks with dirty hands as it may damage the delicate details. If you want to clean it, use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the surface. Also, be careful when handling the couplers to prevent them from getting loose. With proper care, this model will last you a long time and bring lots of joy to your model train collection.
