Description
The Atlas 150-10004024 GP-40 CP Rail #4600 is a high-quality HO scale model train. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In 1966, EMD launched a new locomotive line based on the 16-cylinder 645-series prime mover. The GP40, a four-axle model, was part of the “40-series”. From 1966 to 1972, 1,145 units were produced. These 3,000hp turbocharged locomotives were mainly used in road freight service. Versatile, they could haul drag freights over mountains and lead high-speed intermodal trains on flat ground. The GP40 has three rooftop radiator fans at the rear of the long hood, unlike the GP38 which has two. The GP38, a non-turbocharged 2,000hp locomotive, was also offered during the same period. 727 units were made between 1966 and 1971. It was cost-effective and used in local and road freight service. Both GP38 and GP40 share the same wheelbase and many components. The Atlas models offer options like long hoods with or without dynamic brakes and underframes with different fuel tank sizes. The train features golden-white LEDs, a realistic die-cast underframe, a high-performance motor, directional lighting, and more. There are also additional feature parts for the GP-40. For the Gold Series, it has great DCC operation and sound functionality features, including over 20 sound effects and user-selectable options.

Using this Atlas HO scale model train is easy. First, make sure your DCC system is set up properly according to the manufacturer's instructions. Place the train on the track and use your DCC controller to start, stop, and control the speed. You can also use the function keys to activate different features like the lights, bell, and horn. When handling the train, be gentle to avoid damaging the delicate parts. Keep it away from dust and moisture to maintain its performance. If you want to clean it, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. For the interior, you can use a small brush to remove any debris. Periodically check the wheels and axles for smooth rotation. If you notice any issues, contact the customer support for assistance. Enjoy your model train and have fun creating your own railway world!
