Description
The 1338 TCS N Scale Train Control Systems come with a K0D8 - C Kato Decoder (Part # 745 - 1338). It has a drop - in interface type. The decoder measures 2.139' x 0.538' x 0.068' (54.32mm x 13.67mm x 1.73mm). With a continuous/peak of 1.0/2.0 Amp, it offers 8 total functions and a function rating of 80 mA. There are 6 12V outputs, 6 LED outputs, and 2 onboard LEDs. This N - scale drop - in decoder is suitable for Kato locomotives like the F40PH. Note that the K0D8 line has different lighting configurations, and the K0D8 - C has 2 super - bright, 'Sunny White' LED's with short leads. If you have a 'Metra' or 'Operation North Pole' F40PH from Kato, check out the K5D7. It also features Back EMF Load Compensation for great slow - speed control, Quiet Drive for noise - free motor performance, DC Mode for automatic DC power detection, RailCom® for communication with the command station, Variable Momentum for custom acceleration and deceleration, LED Support without external resistors, Incandescent Bulb Support for 12 - Volt bulbs, Function Remapping for easy lighting control, 20 Programmable Lighting Effects, Dimmable Brightness for LEDs or bulbs, Decoder Lock to prevent unwanted programming, Airwire™ Compatibility, and User - Loadable Speed Tables for custom speed curves and limits.

Using this TCS train control decoder is a breeze. First, make sure your locomotive is compatible with the N - scale K0D8 - C Kato Decoder. For example, if you have a Kato F40PH, it's a great match. Install the decoder following the installation guide provided. When it comes to power, the decoder will automatically detect DC power, and you can set up how the lighting effects work on DC. You can customize a lot of things with this decoder. Create your own acceleration and deceleration curves using the variable momentum feature. You can also choose from 20 different lighting effects and set different brightness levels for your LEDs or bulbs. There are some important notes. The K0D8 line has different lighting configurations, so pay close attention to which one is right for your locomotive. If you have a 'Metra' or 'Operation North Pole' F40PH from Kato, you'll need the K5D7 instead. To keep your decoder in good shape, avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures and moisture. If you're programming the decoder, use the decoder lock feature to prevent any accidental changes. When you're not using it, store it in a dry and safe place.
