Description
Enhance your model train operations from the 1960s to the 1980s with the Walthers Mainline 40-foot Association of American Railroads (AAR) Modernized 1948 Boxcar. After World War II, thousands of these boxcars were built. When new safety standards came in the mid - 1960s to remove most freight car running boards, many roads made inexpensive upgrades. They installed short ladders at the A end while keeping the longer ladder, high brake wheel, and a single roof - mounted grab iron at the B end. Some of these boxcars were still in regular service into the 1980s and later used for maintenance - of - way work. Key features of these HO scale models include: a one - time production of these road numbers (limited quantity, order now!); they fit 1960s - 1980s operations; they're based on cars rebuilt to meet updated safety standards with no roof running board or mounts, tall ladders at the B (brake wheel) end, and short ladders at the A end. Other features are an improved Dreadnaught 4 - 4 end with a rectangular top rib, a diagonal panel roof, 6 - foot Youngstown doors, 10 - panel riveted sides, 10 - foot - 6 - inch interior height, an Ajax hand brake wheel, Bettendorf trucks, correct 33 - inch turned - metal wheelsets, and Proto MAX(TM) magnetic metal knuckle couplers.

Using this Walthers HO scale boxcar is easy. Simply place it on your model train tracks and enjoy watching it fit right into your 1960s - 1980s themed layout. When handling the boxcar, be gentle to avoid any damage to the delicate parts like the ladders and couplers. For maintenance, you can use a soft brush to clean the dust off the boxcar regularly. If the wheels get dirty, you can carefully wipe them with a clean, dry cloth. Store the boxcar in a cool, dry place to prevent any warping or damage. Don't expose it to extreme temperatures or high humidity, as this can affect the paint and the structural integrity of the model.
