Description
The Decoder Buddy Version V5 with a 1k ohm resistor on the NTZ5 motherboard is designed for 21-Pin decoders in HO Scale. The Decoder Buddy V5 and V5B are built for 12 output decoders, offering some extra features. Note that this motherboard doesn't come with the 21-Pin Decoder and requires soldering. It's not for DC systems, but it can work if your decoder supports DC operation. I can provide custom - specified resistors for function outputs via email. The motherboard includes a 21 Pin Decoder receptacle, two pairs of track input pads, one pair of motor input pads, a set of stay - alive pads, two pairs of speaker pads, and 12 lighting outputs on a separable board. Resistors for LED lighting are provided. The 0 ohm resistors are for pre - installed LEDs with resistors or 12 - volt LEDs. Always use resistors when connecting LEDs to the lighting outputs. The motherboard's dimensions are approximately 0.67” x 2.20” x 0.35” (17 mm x 56 mm x 9 mm), and the height may vary slightly depending on the decoder.
Using your Decoder Buddy NTZ5 motherboard is easy. First, make sure you have all the necessary tools for soldering as the board requires it. Don't try to use it in a DC system unless your decoder supports DC operation. If you need custom resistors for function outputs, just send an email. When it comes to installing the decoder, insert it into the 21 Pin Decoder receptacle. Connect the track input pads, motor input pads, and speaker pads as needed. For the lighting, use the provided resistors. If you're using pre - installed LEDs with resistors or 12 - volt LEDs, the 0 ohm resistors will work for you. Always remember to use resistors when connecting LEDs to the lighting outputs. As for maintenance, keep the board clean and free from dust. Store it in a dry place when not in use. And since the height can vary slightly depending on the decoder, be careful when installing it to avoid any damage.
