Description
The FVM 10130 Trinity RD-4 Coal Hopper from Fox Valley Models in N Scale is a great addition to your train collection. The picture might show a different road number. This 4200 cubic foot modern aluminum car was built starting in the mid - 1990s and is still in use today. Railroads and public utilities use these hopper cars in unit trains to transport coal from coal fields to power plants or export ports. Key features include new road numbers, an era from 2003 to present, a series from 503600 - 503959 built from Oct 03 - Jan 04. It's fully assembled with a detailed plastic body and die - cast weight with interior detail. The removable coal load, detailed free - rolling trucks, 36” machined metal wheels, and body - mounted operating knuckle couplers (Micro - Trains® compatible) make it a high - quality model. The printing and lettering are clear even under magnification, and it's weighted to industry standards. It operates on Code 55, 70, and 80 rail, comes in clear jewel box packaging, has a minimum radius of 9 ¾” and a recommended radius of 11”. Coal transportation by train has evolved over time, and the Trinity RD - 4 represents a modern solution with its high capacity and rapid discharge feature.

Using this coal hopper is easy. Just place it on your Code 55, 70, or 80 rail track. The body - mounted operating knuckle couplers are compatible with Micro - Trains®, so it can be easily connected to other cars in your train set. When you want to have some fun, remove the coal load to simulate unloading. As for maintenance, keep it clean from dust and debris. You can use a soft brush to gently clean the detailed plastic body. Make sure to check the 36” machined metal wheels regularly to ensure smooth operation. When storing the model, use the clear jewel box packaging provided to protect it. Also, note that the minimum radius for operation is 9 ¾”, but for better performance, use a radius of 11” or more.
