Description
Introducing the Broadway Limited N Scale BLI 7408 Reading T1 4-8-4 locomotive #2102, sporting the 'BLUE MOUNTAIN & READING' scheme with Paragon4 Sound & DCC. Note that the picture might show a different road number. In 1945, as WWII ended, the Reading Railroad realized they lacked super - power steam locomotives. They converted 30 I10 - sa Class 2 - 10 - 0 locomotives to the new T - 1 Northern class between 1945 - 1947. These were mainly used for fast freight on the Reading system and in pool service with the Western Maryland Railway. By 1954, all 30 were in storage, and most were scrapped by 1958. Four were kept for the Iron Horse Rambles. Today, these four still exist. 2102, owned by the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad, occasionally goes on display. In 2022, Broadway Limited produced N - scale Reading T - 1 4 - 8 - 4 steam locomotives. There are three in - service models and three 'Iron Horse Ramble' models, with various paint schemes. The model features an ALL - NEW Paragon4 Sound & Control System with Rolling Thunder, an integral dual - mode decoder for smooth operation in DC and DCC, a precision drive mechanism, an operating smoke unit, and more. The Paragon4 system offers dual - mode operation, high - resolution audio, and numerous user - mappable functions.

Using this locomotive is a breeze. First, if you're using DC operation, you can use the DCMaster for DC sound. For DCC, the built - in decoder makes setup straightforward. The locomotive can run on Code 55, Code 70, and Code 80 rail, with a minimum operating radius of 9.75 inches. When it comes to the smoke unit, remember to use a thin - viscosity smoke fluid like JT's Mega Steam or Marklin's #02421. As for maintenance, keep the track clean to ensure good electrical pick - up. The built - in capacitor pack helps navigate imperfect track, but a clean track will make the locomotive run even better. You can adjust various sounds like the whistle, horn, and bell ringing interval to your liking. If you ever mess up the settings, just use the EZ Reset Button to go back to factory defaults.
