Description
The Atlas 50005235 Class X72 50' Boxcar CR - Conrail 269881 in N Scale is a great addition to your railroad collection. The picture might show a different road number. In 1972, the Penn Central and Western Pacific ordered smooth - sided box cars from US Railroad Manufacturing. The PC's 574 - car order became the 'X72' design with smooth, welded sides and a large 6 - panel Superior door for easy forklift operation. The next year, another 500 X72A box cars were ordered. These cars served a general purpose and were common across North America. After the Penn Central's end in the late 70s, Conrail took them over and they ran until the 90s. Later, Conrail sold most of the X72/72A fleet. By the 2000s, most X72s were out of service, but some still run in Mexico and South America. The X72 and X72A were important during the PC and Conrail eras and had many paint schemes, like Conrail's 'Buy And Hold US Savings Bonds' one. Some cars even stayed in PC green. Whether you need a few or a large group for your train, the X72 in Atlas's schemes will look amazing. Features include crisp painting and printing, a durable body, free - rolling trucks, a detailed brakewheel, and knuckle couplers.

Using this Atlas N Scale 50' Boxcar CR is easy. Just place it on your N - scale railroad track and let it roll with your other train cars. It'll fit right in with your existing layout. When handling it, be gentle to avoid any damage to the detailed parts like the brakewheel and couplers. For maintenance, you can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body and remove any dust. Keep it away from rough surfaces that could scratch the paint. If you notice the trucks aren't rolling freely, you can give them a light cleaning with a mild lubricant. Make sure to store it in a cool, dry place when not in use to keep it in great condition for a long time.
