Description
The Atlas 20006534 NSC Newsprint Box Car BCOL, representing the British Columbia Railway #4664, is an HO scale model. It's painted in green and white with a Dogwood Logo (note that the picture might show a different road number). In 1967, the National Steel Car Corporation in Hamilton, Ontario, built the first cars for dedicated newsprint transport between Canada and the US. These cars had riveted or welded sides and smooth interiors, including the doors, to protect heavy paper rolls. The rolls, weighing up to 2000 pounds each, were stacked two - high, needing over 9 feet of internal height. The cars had large door openings, with sliding Youngstown lever - type flush plug doors or lever - less exterior post plug doors. Originally bought by seven railroads, they were used in international paper shipping until the late 2000s. Over time, they had various colorful paint schemes. This model features separately applied detail parts, accurate paint schemes and door configurations, knuckle couplers, and free - rolling Symington roller bearing trucks.
Using this HO scale model is easy. You can simply place it on your model train track and it will roll smoothly thanks to the free - rolling Symington roller bearing trucks. When handling it, be gentle with the separately applied detail parts as they can be fragile. To keep the model looking great, avoid touching the painted surface with dirty hands as it may smudge the prototypically accurate paint schemes. If it gets dusty, you can use a soft, dry brush to gently clean it. Also, make sure the knuckle couplers are in good condition and properly aligned for smooth connection with other cars in your train set.
