This HO Scale Atlas 20006309 FMC 5503 52' Double-Door Boxcar from Longview, Portland & Northern (LNPN 52024) comes in eye-catching orange and blue. Please note, the picture might show a different road number. In the last fifty years, box cars usually had one of five frame lengths: 40-, 50-, 52-, 60- and 86-foot. The 52-foot ones are the least common but played a big part in the lumber industry. This car is like a 'stretched' 5277 with an extra foot outside the bolsters, giving it a unique overhang. It has double sliding doors and a cushioned underframe. Southern Pacific was the first to operate this design, ordering 700 of these distinct boxcars for Southern Pacific, Amador Central, and LNPN. Features include double sliding doors, wire grabs, etched parts, a Plate C Box Car, and an X-Panel Roof.
