This HO scale Atlas 20005861 50-foot postwar boxcar represents New York Central P&E #4516. It comes in a striking combination of jade green, black, and white, with the 'Quicker via Peoria' marking. Note that the picture might show a different road number. After World War II, railroads ordered many 50-foot AAR boxcars with a standard design that became popular in the late 1940s. Based on the 1937 AAR design, it was updated post-war with an improved dreadnaught end and diagonal panel roofs. These boxcars were a common sight on American railroads until the 1970s and 1980s. Features include separately applied ladders and grab irons, three side sill styles (straight, tabbed, and fishbelly), 8-foot and 9-foot Superior or Youngstown doors, a fully detailed underframe, free-rolling trucks with metal wheelsets, and accurate printing with prototypical paint schemes.

Using this HO scale boxcar is easy. Just place it on your model railroad track and watch it roll. It's designed to fit well with other HO scale models. When handling, be gentle to avoid damaging the separately applied details like ladders and grab irons. Store it in a dry and cool place to prevent any paint damage. Clean it occasionally with a soft, dry cloth to keep it looking great. If you notice any issues with the wheels or moving parts, you can use a small amount of lubricant, but be careful not to overdo it.
