Description
The Atlas 20004569 70-Ton Hart Ballast Car in HO Scale is a great addition to your model train collection. This car, in Chicago & North Western's Boxcar Red and black color scheme, is a replica of the real - deal. Built by ACF® from 1940 - 1953, these cars were originally called “Hart Selective Service Ballast Cars”. They feature specially - designed doors that let you discharge the load in three ways: to the rail center, to both the center and sides, or just to the side. Key features include a die - cast chassis for durability, it's ready - to - run right out of the box. It has 70 - ton friction - bearing trucks. The side - dump doors can be opened or closed and are separately applied. There are also separately - applied grab irons, coupler cut lever, train line hose, and air brake piping for added realism. The interior is fully detailed with cross - bracing and side stiffeners. It comes ready for AccuMate® Proto - Coupler with the necessary screws in the package. The painting and printing are very accurate.
Using your Atlas 70 - Ton Hart Ballast Car is easy. First, take it out of the box and check that all the parts are intact. Since it's ready - to - run, you can directly place it on your HO scale model train track. You can adjust the side - dump doors to different positions according to your needs. If you want to change the couplers to AccuMate® Proto - Couplers, just use the screws provided in the package. When it comes to maintenance, keep it in a dry place to prevent rust. You can use a soft brush to clean the dust off the car. If you notice any loose parts, tighten them carefully. Avoid dropping or hitting the car hard as it may damage the delicate details like the grab irons and piping.
