This is a 2000 TCS train control system with a KA3 Keep Alive feature, designed for HO scale models. It has dimensions of 1.02” x .45” x .347” (25.9mm x 11.43mm x 8.81mm). The input rating ranges from 12 to 16V. It comes with a black wire with a white stripe and a blue wire for power supply. The Keep Alive® (KA) devices are super useful. They can supply power to decoders when there's a power interruption caused by dirty or problematic track work. The KA3 can power an HO - Scale locomotive with headlights on for about 6 to 20 seconds, depending on the locomotive and motor efficiency. This KA3 is compatible with Keep Alive® ready decoders and most non - TCS decoders. TCS decoders made after February 2012 are Keep Alive® ready.

Using this TCS train control system is easy. First, connect the black wire with the white stripe and the blue wire to the appropriate power source according to the 12 - 16V input rating. Then, install the system in your HO scale train setup. When the track gets dirty or there are issues with the track work, the Keep Alive® (KA) function will automatically kick in to keep power flowing to the decoders and keep your locomotive running with headlights on for a short time. As for maintenance, regularly check the track for dirt and debris to minimize power interruptions. Also, make sure the connections of the wires are secure. If you have any TCS decoders made after February 2012, they're already Keep Alive® ready, so you can use them without any extra concerns. For non - TCS decoders, most should work fine with this KA3, but just test them to be sure.
